Days 30 and 31 - Rothenburg and Regensburg
Thursday saw us walk into Rothenburg, and it soon became quite evident that it was perched high above the valley our campsite was in. The path was easy, but the angle that it rose at was....hard going.
Rothenburg prides itself on the was it celebrates Christmas. There is a Christmas Museum and a couple of all year round Christmas shops. Unfortunately it was strictly forbidden to take pictures, but I can tell you that Christmas decorations here in Germany have never been about religion, and have almost taken on a military theme. The shop that the Museum was in is HUGE - just room after room after side room after hidden away room, all filled to the gunnels with very expensive paraphernalia.

On Friday we moved on to Regensburg, an altogether much bigger city, sitting astride the Danube - or Donau as it is known here. The journey was full of motorway roadworks, not helped by the massive number of trucks on the road. It was just a continuous convoy of them for about two hundred kilometers.
Having set up on the site we got out the bikes, and cycled along the side of the Danube into the city. This was really just to get our bearings as we will be here for four nights. So here are just a few photos to get an idea of the city.
Today, Saturday, we'll be taking a city tour on a sort of bus/train hybrid, and pick out some things that might warrant further investigation.
Great pictures again, and glad you're having a lovely time. Whilst in Germany you MUST go to one of the many Italian ice-cream cafés and order a 'Spaghettieis' Trust me!
